Please stop by for a cup of hot cocoa and cider this Friday on the front lawn from 2:35 – 3:15. Just 50 cents per cup!

The Fifth graders are raising funds to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, who were devastated earlier this month. An estimated 11 million people were affected! Please support our 5th Graders’ effort to collect for those in the Philippines.

Moving forward, 5th graders will be raising money for their class gift. They are planning to give something to the Clinton Garden—some more raised beds, fruit trees, a grape arbor, a sundial, a composter, maybe even a fence! Stay tuned for more.

Counting down to Tricky Tray

Posted November 20th, 2013 by PTA

The Clinton PTA 11th Annual Tricky Tray and Auction will be held on February 8th and the planning is under way!

We STILL need your HELP! We rely heavily on you to help us collect prizes. Here are some ways you can help:

START WITH YOUR EMPLOYER
Some companies are willing to donate merchandise and others are prepared to offer a sizable discount. If this is the case, please let us know! In the past we have used a Clinton parent’s employee discount at Macy’s to purchase a slew of great prizes. Prizes in the electronics category are always a big hit, so if you have any connections in that area, please let us know. We have a letter that can be used to solicit donations. Let us know if you’d like a copy.
**Keep in mind that end-of-year donations can be tax deductable for 2013.**
NEW for 2014: TABLE SPONSORS
We’re looking for local businesses to sponsor Tricky Tray tables! For $200 we will beautifully decorate one guest table with a centerpiece, tablecloth and tableware. Your business logo will be prominently featured at that table and we will display your business cards at the refreshments table. With your $200 donation, we will also place your business logo as an ad in the Clinton School Theatre’s show program. With over 350 in attendance at last year’s Tricky Tray, and over 300 children participating in the School Show, this is a great opportunity to market your local business. Please contact Jung before December 31st if you’re interested in becoming a Table Sponsor.
THERE’S NO SHAME IN REGIFTING
Did your child receive two of the same video games for his birthday? Did someone give you a gift card you’ll never use? Team Tricky Tray will collect any unwanted gifts – no questions asked – during the first week of January. Keep an eye out for collection dates!
DO YOU HAVE A SPECIAL TALENT OR SKILL?
Turn it into a prize! Some ideas: If you’re an accomplished tennis player, offer a one-hour private lesson. If you can bake, a decorated birthday cake would be a fabulous prize, if you are a fabulous cook, you can prepare and deliver a meal for four.

DO YOU LIKE TO ENTERTAIN?
How about throwing a theme party? You pick the date, time, and theme, and we’ll auction off the invitations. Have you always wanted to host a Mystery Dinner? Mystery guests will make it all the more fun! Do you make a mean margarita? How about putting together a Cinco de Mayo party? The possibilities are endless for this prize—and oh so much fun!

WHO DO YOU KNOW?
An autographed script or backstage tour is always a popular prize. A few years ago Clinton parents starring in Broadway productions of Hair, Wicked, and The Little Mermaid offered backstage tours. A Sopranos script signed by all the featured actors brought in big bucks another year.

WEEKEND GETAWAYS
Do you have a time-share or vacation home that you can spare for a weekend? Is there a hotel you stay at frequently that might offer a sizable discount? Please let us know!

GETTING TOGETHER WITH OTHER FAMILIES
Would you like to pool your money with some other families and donate a prize? In past years families have gotten together to buy bicycles, e-readers, and American Girl dolls.
The possibilities are endless and no prize is too big or too small! Thanks in advance!
Contact Jung Lee Masters (973.275.3936) if you have a prize to donate or if you are willing to be part of our Tricky Tray committee.

Reminders for Tuesday, 11/19

Posted November 18th, 2013 by PTA

Clinton School will be hosting an Open House for prospective families on Tuesday, November 19th at 3:00 pm.
This is a great opportunity for parents who are considering Clinton School for the 2014-2015 school year to see the building and learn about our incredible community. If you know of any new families in our neighborhood, please tell them about the Open House!
If you have questions, please contact Amy Janay.

Join the Parenting Center and the Elementary PTA’s for a showing of Richard Lavoie’s “How Difficult Can This Be?: The F.A.T. City Workshop” (Fear, Anxiety, Tension), Tuesday night at 7:30 pm hosted by Marshall School. Marshall School is located at 262 Grove Road in South Orange. Don’t miss the “best educational film ever made”.

The Parenting Center’s Holiday Toy Drive has begun! A collection box is located at the main hall of Clinton School, as well as at the Parenting Center at 525 Academy Street. All donations of new, unwrapped gifts will benefit local children right in our community. Thank you in advance.
