Dear 4th Grade Parents and Parents of Students in Ms. Antunes’ Class,

The final performance featuring the work 4th grade students did with our Artist-in-Residence, Angela Kariotis, will now take place on Friday, March 16th at 9am. This is a change from the original date (3/2). Please mark your calendar. The students work is very impressive and you won’t want to miss this.

Also, to see what they’ve been doing with Angela and our visiting artist, Santiago Villegas, check out Angela’s blog.

An invitation to the performance will be sent home in backpacks soon.

Clinton School on Patch

Posted February 18th, 2012 by PTA

Our Celebrity Reads program went very well on Friday with readers including Assemblywoman Mila Jasey, Mayor Vic Deluca, and South Orange Middle School Principal Joe Uglialoro (who read Langston Hughes poems to our 5th graders).

Take a look at this great coverage on Patch.

Readathon

Posted February 17th, 2012 by PTA

This month is even more about reading than usual at Clinton Elementary!

Today, our school participated in the United Way of Essex County’s Celebrity Read program and every class was visited by a guest reader. Be sure to ask your children who visited their classroom and what books they shared. On February 29, author Edel Rodriguez will visit our school and share his work with all of our students.

And, the Clinton Readathon is underway! From February 17 to March 16, we encourage you to share the fun and excitement of reading (and being read to) with your children. Students can ask family and friends to pledge either by minutes they read each day or by giving a flat donation, and all funds raised by the readathon go directly and 100% to buy books, e-readers, audiobooks, and other materials for our school library. Even if you choose not to participate in the fundraising aspect of the readathon, we hope that you will help your child log their reading time on the yellow forms and return them to school by March 21. All students who return forms will be entered in a raffle to win a Words bookstore gift certificate.

Happy Reading!

Readathon/Author Visit

Posted February 16th, 2012 by PTA

The Clinton PTA invites you to participate in our annual Readathon, which kicks off tomorrow! Please look for the yellow Readathon packet in your child’s folder/backpack and join us as we raise money to purchase books, e-readers, and audiobooks for our beloved Clinton School library. All children who complete the reading log and return it on March 21 are eligible for our Readathon raffle even if they do not participate in the fundraising aspect of this program. We encourage all families to use the Readathon to talk about the importance of reading every day and to make reading a family affair!

Also, remember that our author visit is scheduled for Leap Day, February 29. Author and illustrator Edel Rodriguez will present to our students in the morning. They have been learning about him and reading his books this month with Mrs. Latimer in our library. PLEASE return the order form and payment by TOMORROW, Friday 17 if you would like to order a signed book for your child.
