PTA Calendar of Events 2011-2012

Posted August 22nd, 2011 by PTA

Our 2011-2012 Calendar of Events is now posted on our website!

Keep a copy (or two or three!) handy at work, at home, in whatever paper or electronic form suits you best.

It lists our fun events – like the fair and school show, as well as important district/school information, such as our Back-To-School nights, so you can mark your calendars now. Be sure to note that our first general PTA meeting, where you can meet your Executive Board members, hear about our fund raising efforts and other activities and plans for this year is on Thursday, September 22 at 7:15 pm. We hope to see you there.

Best regards,
The Clinton PTA

School Supplies List 2011-2012

Posted August 10th, 2011 by PTA

If you didn’t order a pre-packaged supply kit from the PTA last spring, not to worry. We have posted supply lists by grade on our website. Find the school supplies list on the left-hand side navigation menu.

If you did order a supply kit, they will be available for pick up on Thursday, September 1st from 3-6:30pm in the cafeteria. Use cafeteria entrance (front doors won’t be open). If you can’t make it for pick-up, we will deliver the supply kit to your child’s classroom on the first day of school.

Hope you are all enjoying your summer!

Clinton School’s Hispanic Heritage Month Display

Posted August 5th, 2011 by PTA

Dear Clinton Parents:
We hope you’re having a wonderful summer! The school year will be here before we know it…. We’re starting to plan the display case for Clinton School’s annual celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month. Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from September 15 to October 15, where the display case will highlight the histories, diverse culture and traditions, and contributions of Americans of Hispanic descent. This celebration is also significant because it is observed during the days of Independence for several Latin American countries.

The Clinton display case is an opportunity to showcase the diversity and cultural traditions of our school community. I wanted to to inquire if your family would be interested in contributing to the display case.

You can contribute by:
* Displaying cultural items and tapestries from Latin American countries
* Creating a poster board highlight your child or family’s Hispanic heritage
* Creating a display or writing about a Hispanic person of achievement
* Writing a short essay (300 words or less) on a distinguished family member of Hispanic descent, including photos
* Writing short essay (300 words or less) on a recent visit to a Spanish-speaking countries, including photos
* Featuring a poem from a Hispanic American writer
* Other ideas?

Collecting cultural items and creating a display could be a fun-family activity or summer project for your child(ren). If interested, please let me know at your earliest convenience. I would need all items by Friday, August 19. Please email Shanta Gyan or call 973-763-7908.

Have a terrific rest of the summer!

All the best,

Shanta Gyan
