New Year’s Traditions Around the World

Posted November 29th, 2010 by PTA

The celebration of the new year is one of the world’s oldest holidays and traditions, dating back to ancient Babylon about 4000 years ago. In a culturally diverse school community like Clinton, students observe a variety of New Year traditions.

For the display case for the months of December and January, we would like to highlight New Years traditions from around the world. We’d like a wide representation of traditions from our school community. What are some of your family’s New Year traditions? Do you eat black-eyed peas on January 1 for good luck? Do you bang pots and pans at midnight to ring in the New Year? Do you celebrate the New Year on a day other than January 1?

Tell us your story! We are accepting short essays of 100 words or less on your family’s New Year’s customs and traditions. Please feel free to send in photos and other cultural items to symbolize your tradition. Your child’s essay will be featured in the display case, across from the main office. The deadline for accepting items is Monday, December 13. Please send to Shanta Gyan at

Lice Report and Prevention

Posted November 29th, 2010 by PTA

There have been several reports of lice in the school. Please do take a few minutes to examine your child’s head regularly and take the proper steps to prevent transmission. Please review this document to find out what you should be looking for on your children.

Make sure your children know to not share hats or coats. If you are interested in preventative hair products, they can be found online or at local retailers.
