This is going to be a great Tricky Tray!

Posted January 29th, 2010 by PTA

Our Tricky Tray/Auction is right around the corner (Saturday, March 13th). Please help us make this one our most successful ever!

Reservation forms will be sent home soon, and if you’re interested in coming, please return them ASAP since we run out of seating quickly.

We need empty baskets
We are also searching for empty baskets for prize displays. If you have baskets you’d like to donate, please contact clintonschoolpta@gmail.com to arrange for a drop-off/pick-up. The monumental task of wrapping prizes has already begun.

Prizes? Cash donations?
First, thanks to all of you who have so generously donated prizes or asked your employer or local businesses to do so. We have lots of great loot, but can still use more. You can also give us a cash donation to help purchase prizes (make check payable to Clinton PTA and send to school in envelope marked “Tricky Tray” as soon as possible). Another alternative is to chip in with another family and purchase a prize. Electronics are always hot, as are collector items like American Girl dolls. We are trying to get as many prizes in by February 15th as possible. Our hard-working committee has lots of organizing, wrapping, gathering, and cataloging to do, so the earlier, the better.

We have many awesome prizes already so here’s a little sneak peek:
* $2000 voucher for Camp Horizons at Newark Academy (if you have three children, you’ll get $2000 off each of their tuitions).
* Four Disney Park Hopper Passes
* Amazon Kindle
* Flip Video Camera
* Pig Roast for 30 People
* Tory Burch Tote Bag
* Tickets to the Paper Mill Theater, State Theater of NJ, and much more.
* Membership to Newark Museum, Museum of the American Indian, and more.

General Information
This event is open to the entire Clinton school community (adults only). Feel free to bring your (non-Clinton) friends and family. All are welcome! An official flyer/reservation form will be sent home soon. Each ticket costs $20 and entitles you to beer, wine, soda, water, and dessert and 20 raffle tickets. We encourage you to coordinate with your friends and bring your own dinner.

Story night and Lost-and-Found

Posted January 25th, 2010 by PTA

Our wonderful Storytelling Night will take place in the Clinton School auditorium on Thursday, January 28th, at 6:30 pm. Kids can wear their PJs and bring their favorite stuffed animals.

If you have gently used children’s books that you’d like to donate, we’ll be collecting them that evening for the District’s Parenting Center, who will distribute them to families in our school community.

Also, if your child has lost gloves, scarves, hats, coats, or anything else this year, please walk by the hallway outside of the cafeteria when you visit the school that evening. Lost and Found items will be sorted and on display so they can be reclaimed. If you can’t make it that night, try to stop in at drop-off or pick-up. There are an enormous amount of lost items. Whatever is not claimed, will be donated to the Clinton School account at Other Mothers Consignment Shop.

Reminder — storytelling night postponed

Posted January 21st, 2010 by PTA

Our Storytelling Night (which was to take place on January 21st) has been postponed one week. It is now scheduled for Thursday, January 28th at 6:30 pm.

We rescheduled the event to accommodate an outreach program that the school district’s social work program is having for Haitian families at our school next week. In light of the situation in Haiti and the large number of South Orange Maplewood students who are affected, the program has been designed to offer support to these families and bring them together with school district professionals who can help.

The PTA will be supporting this outreach program in whatever way we can, and we applaud the social work department for organizing the outreach evening, which will benefit many Clinton School families.

Please mark your calendar with the new date for Storytelling Night. We look forward to seeing you there.

backstage crew

Posted January 20th, 2010 by PTA

If your child is interested in helping behind-the-scenes in this year’s Clinton Student Theater production, we still need students to help:

• Build and paint the sets
‚Ä¢ Help with performers’ make-up
• Greet the attendees and pass out programs
• Notify the groups waiting in the green rooms (runners)

Please have him/her sign up (name/grade/teacher) this week in the front hall, and you will receive the registration and contract information next week via your child’s folder.

If you’ve already registered him/her to help with the sets or work in the stage crew, your registration information has been received, and Mr. Moss will contact you soon. This is not for children who are already performing and rehearsing.

These are very important roles, and we’d love to have your children involved. Meeting times will be announced shortly.
